IAMG2019
20th Annual Conference of the International Association for Mathematical Geosciences
August 10 - 16, 2019 in State College, Pennsylvania, USA
The 20th Annual Conference of the International Association for Mathematical Geosciences IAMG2019 will be in State College, PA from Aug. 10th – Aug. 16th, 2019. The University Park campus of The Pennsylvania State University (Penn State) is situated in Central Pennsylvania amidst the beautiful Appalachian Mountains. The university is located in the midst of a major unconventional shale gas production area, is in close proximity to coal and mineral mining areas, and is home to world-renowned climatologists and meteorologists.
The conference will cover the usual topics in geo-mathematics, geostatistics, geoinformatics and geomodeling but in particular will bring to fore geomodeling issues at the intersection of food, water, and energy. The challenge of meeting the increased demand for food, water, and energy and the resultant stress on our geo-sphere is broadly accepted as one of the major scientific challenges facing mankind. The feedback processes intrinsic to this tri-partite cycle are best-studied using sophisticated mathematical and statistical modeling tools. One of the broad themes of the proposed conference will be to highlight research being performed to address these issues.
The conference venue will be at the Penn Stater Hotel and Conference Center affiliated with the Penn State University. This hotel can accommodate up to 300 guests and has several meeting rooms that can be arranged to host the plenary sessions as well as parallel sessions. The Penn Stater Hotel and Conference Center has been the venue for several major conferences organized at the University and offers a near perfect conference setting close to the campus and associated amenities, as well as providing a grand view of the Appalachian mountains. Several interesting optional tours are also planned to observe gas production from a nearby field, to a geological outcrop to observe the complexity of shale reservoirs as well as to the nearby Penns Cave. Other optional tours that will enable visitors to sample the crafts and products of this beautiful part of the country are also planned.
